Ivory cloud

For this Science Experiment we only needed 1 bar of Ivory soap and a bowl.

Unwrap the bar of Ivory soap, place it in a bowl and microwave it for 2 minutes. The soap will expand into a foam that is more than six times the size of the original bar. It’s a fun trick that won’t hurt either your microwave or the soap.

My kid had a blast watching the soap turn into foam!

We only left the soap in the microwave for 1 minute.

Then we put it back in for another minute, and it grew double the size.

Now time to play!

He made a big mess.

Pipe Cleaners

Objective: To take part in a free-play activity with pipe cleaners.

First time we played with pipe cleaners, and they are so much fun!  You can twist them into interesting shapes, attach one to another and make semi-realistic creatures like we did today 🙂

My son with his cool glasses

He named this a “cat”

An strange bug

My brother made this cameleon

Elephant Toothpaste

The kids loved this since experiment. The chemical reaction creates foam that shoots up out of the bottle after about a minute or so. The kids had fun playing with the warm foam for a while.

Want to make it with your kids!? Here are the materials and instructions.

Materials:

A plastic bottle (works better with a narrow neck)

1 cup of hydrogen peroxide

1/2 cup of Dawn dish detergent

3-4 drops of food coloring (I used blue, you can use any color)

1 teaspoon yeast dissolved in 2 tablespoons of very warm water

Funnel

Something to contain the “toothpaste” (We used a bake glass pan)

Instructions:

Using separate mixing cups mix the hydrogen peroxide and food coloring in one, and In the other mix the yeast with water.

Can you tell that they love each other!?

Pour hydrogen peroxide into the bottle

Measure the cup of dawn and add it to the plastic bottle

Yeast with water

It’s going up

Watching it explode!

My kid wanted to pay with the foam forever.

Colorful pasta

Dyed pasta is really simple and fun.. You can use them to teach them colors, make necklaces, bracelets with patterns, gluing onto paper for pasta art, shape sorting, etc.

He helped with the whole process. We did a couple different activities with the pasta once it was done drying. His favorites were making the necklace and gluing shapes.

Here is the recipe for DYE pasta.

1 cup of pasta (I used Ronzoni garden delight since it already has orange and dark green)

1/2 cup of Rubbing alcohol

Food coloring

Measuring cup

Ziploc bag

Cookie sheet

Paper towels

You can dye as many bags of pasta you want.. Remember 1 cup for each baggie.

Mix the food coloring with 1/2 cup of rubbing alcohol (mix well) and place the liquid into the bag.

My kid had fun mixing the colors!

Place the bags of pasta this way on the cookie sheet. Let sit for about 2 hours.

Use an strainer to drain the alcohol from the bags one by one.. Make sure you clean the strainer before you strain another color. Place the pasta on a cookie sheet and let it dry for another 2 hours. If you want to speed the process up, take them outside.

We wait until the next day to make our necklaces and bracelets.

Necklace done, he also made one for me 🙂

My brother came back home from school early and joined our class.

Build and Play

These waffle blocks are absolutely  fun. I didn’t know that they even existed until we went to my little niece’s first day of school and her teacher had them.. My kid was fascinating by these blocks. When we come  back home I start researching online and found them. We bought them and gave them as a gift to him for his second Birthday. He loves these blocks! There are endless ways to build with them. We build tunnels, houses, castles, giant dice, etc.  These are a great toy for any age, we have only 2 packs of 18 and it’s enough to build something fun.  They do take up a lot of space , I recommend purchasing just one if your space is limited. AWESOME TOY, especially for little boys!

Pillow Hill

Objective: Play and have fun!

After the end of every class he has a time to play and explore. Today he made a pillow hill.  He loved jumping off of the bed pretending he was a super hero.  When he noticed that I was taking pictures of him, he came to look at them, then went back to jumping and said “Mommy, picture, picture”.

Can you tell he was having fun!?
